California's Pyramid Brewery has just released their new Fall seasonal; Juggernaut Red Ale. It's a copper red American
Red Ale. Juggernaut is made with 2 Row, Carared, C-120, Crafa II, and Roasted Barley (hence the lovely red). This is one of those beers that's even better in a glass; it really does make a difference. The hops used include Simcoe and Cascade hops. The first impression is of caramel, but there's a strong, robust hoppy finish. This is definitely a fall ale; one that can stand up to hearty stews and roasts.
Juggernaut is a seasonal brew, available for a limited time in 12 and 22 ounce bottles, six packs, and—the first time I've seen them from Pyramid—12-packs. Pyramid is also releasing a fall "variety 12-pack" containing Juggernaut, Audacious Apricot, Haywire Hefeweizen (next on my list to try!) and ThunderHead IPA.
Juggernaut was only officially released July 28th; I'm rather surprised that I was able to purchase it three days ago. I suppose that means that their very summery seasonal Curve Ball will be disappearing soon. I'm increasingly impressed with Pyramid, and I note that they've won the 2008 Mid-Size Brewery of the Year award from the Brewers Association at the October 2008 Great American Beer Festival.
