Georgetown Beer is very much a local brewery, and a true micro brewery with their beer only available at the brewery in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood, or in select bars and restaurants in Washington and Idaho. Right now, they produce three beers all year round, Chopper's Red Ale, Roger's Pilsner (named after one of the two brewery co-founders) and Manny's Pale Ale, named after the other of the brewery's two co-founders. They've been known to produce seasonal or occasional brews, as well as a few custom brews for particular restaurants.
Manny's Pale Ale
is a true American style micro brew pale ale, made with Northwest grown Idaho and Washington hops. More specifically, Manny's Pale Ale is made with Magnum and Cascade hops, and Two-row Pale, Crystal, and Cara-Pilsner malts, barley and English Ale yeast. It's a golden amber, with a decent head, and noticeable lacing. The hops are noticeable in the aroma, but they're not overpowering, and there's a hint of citrus at the end. Manny's Pale Ale has an ABV of 5.5%, so it's an almost-session-ale, and absolutely perfect for pizza with friends sharing a pitcher. It's slightly hoppy, but just enough to satisfy that Pale Ale requirement for a little bitter with your sweet, and the malt really does add a touch of sweetness. I'm definitely going to be drinking more of this, and watching for their other beers on tap. I'm apparently following in a line of fans, too. This beer tends to get rave reviews, like these at Beer Advocate.
