Two Brews from Full Sail: Limited 02 and Session
I've already reviewed the previous Full Sail Limited, 01 here. This one is Full Sail Limited 02 is another lager that's been brought back temporarily. It was initially brewed as a seasonal spring ale last year. This is definitely a lager; it's a pale golden amber in color. Slight note of hops in the finish, but mostly I noticed that slightly sweet taste. It's very drinkable, and went remarkably well with a burger. It's made with 2-Row pale malt, wheat malt, caramel malt, Vienna malt, and Stryian Goldings Hops. Alcohol by volume is 6.4%. I've been enjoying this one for over a month, and, as it's a Spring seasonal, I suspect it may be replaced soon. I'd suggest grabbing a six pack while you can.
The Full Sail Session Lager was an impulse buy the first time; it was on sale for a great price at the local store. It's got a funky bottle 11 ounce bottle, short, stubby, and meant to be a nostalgic return to pre Prohibition bottles. Session itself is a return to an older style of brew, a pre-Prohibition American Pale Lager. It's an all-malt Continental Pilsner brewed with both American and European hops, and it's extremely drinkable on its own (it's one of those beers that tastes like "more") and lovely with food. It's a copper-amber in color, and, though I realize it's not traditional, it's particularly nice with a slice of lime, and, yes, we ended up going back for more. I've only seen it in 12 pack cases, but remember, those bottles are only 11 ounces.
