As the holidays approach seasonal winter beers make their yearly return for our imbibing delight, one of those that is a real treat this time of year is New Belgium Brewing’s Frambrozen, Raspberry Brown Ale.
Enjoying Frambozen is a sensory experience from beginning to end. It begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is a beautiful deep, ruby color, with flavor just as rich.
This is a beer for the fruit lover, it’s a bit of of a girly-beer. It’s smooth and subtle, not too sour like one would imagine a raspberry to be.

Alaskan Amber is a staple at my house, it’s good beer for a good price. This ale is an “alt” style beer which means old. That refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall smoothness and flavor.
Richly malty and long on the palette, not the smoothest amber you will ever taste, but it’s mild enough to make it very easy to drink. Not much of a head, but has a beautiful amber color. A good beer for the first-time micro drinkers. Pairs well with pizza and hearty Italian dishes.
Alaskan Amber is made from glacier-fed water and a generous blend of the highest quality European and Pacific Northwest hop varieties and premium two-row pale and specialty malts. It was voted “Best Beer in the Nation” in the 1988 Great American Beer Festival Consumer Poll.

One of my favorite things in the whole-wide world is the failblog. I recently stumbled upon this gem. This could very easily be me on any given night.
